Birthplace: Holytown, Lanarkshire, Scotland

Position: Outside-left

Biography: Arrived at Old Trafford in a swap deal which took John Ball to Bolton Wanderers. He replaced Charlie Mitten at Outside-left and was a regular as United finished runners up to Tottenham Hotspur. The next season, he played 12 games as United won the title before suffering a knee injury. He was sold to Oldham for £750 on the eve on his 34th birthday. Footballing father of Ian, star of the BBC series 'Lovejoy'. Scouted for Manchester United discovering Andy Ritchie, Nicky Butt, Wes Brown among others. Lives in Urmston and had previously spent sixteen years working for Massey Fergusons as a Personnel Officer in Stretford until his retirement. Was also a very popular tannoy announcer at Old Trafford during the 1960s.
