Megson, Don Willie Morgan made his debut against Don in 1963 and was asking about him today saying he was hoping he’s still alive and well and said he was a fearsome left back

Don Don came to our school, Cecil Avenue, back in the early sixties to give us a talk on the life
of a pro footballer. His parents had a shop on Washway road which we used to buy cigarettes from.
I presume Gary also went to the same school.

MEGSON, Don When Don was a schoolboy in Sale he took part in the sports day in a newly opened school. He was selected for the javelin throw. Alas, the teacher involved had not taken into account Don's ability or the size of the field. Then Don took his throw which cleared the crowd and the javelin clattered on to the road outside.

Megson, Don Don was the best 'slide tackler' I ever saw. The most solid of Left-backs and a great captain. With respects to son Gary, Dad was the better player and like so many at Wednesday, much underrated by the powers that be in football. Happy memories from my days standing on the Kop.

Megson, Don The finest Left-back of the Owls post war history. Don had the build of a sherman tank and with Gerry Young he formed a defensive left flank rearguard that was one of the finest in the top-flight
