Biography: A member of the 2008 FA Cup winning who joined the club in 2006 in a joint deal that included Noe Pamarot and Sean Davis. He was instrumental in helping to stave off relegation in his first season and became one of the most popular players of the time. Only months after the glorious day at Wembley he was sold to Rangers for a fee in the region of £3 million. In January 2010, Mendes joined Sporting CP in a deal worth £1.5m. He scored his first goal for the club in a win over Everton in the Europa League.
