Methley, Irvin When he came to Walsall he shared accommodation with two more young players from the Wolves, Billy Skidmore and Henry Walters in a disused bakery converted into living quarters. It formed a boundary to our garden in Palfrey. During the close season they would join us boys on the odd occasion having a kick about in Palfrey Park. Our early Saddlers heroes.

Methley, Irvin Irvin was a friend of my mother's cousin, Victor Careless and his wife Hilda. The friendship developed because Hilda and Irvin's wife Iris, had been best friends throughout their childhood. He was a lovely man and I remember, when I was a boy, the four of them drove up to North Wales to spend a weekend with us when we had a caravan holiday there. I have a photograph of us all on the beach at Harlech. Very happy times!

Methley, Irvin New Mr methley very well, he had the chip shop the top of harden road he had the team picture on the wall in the chippy, I believe he badly broke his leg playing for walsall and it ended his career. ....shame lively man.
Methley, Irvin One of the most pleasant,gentle men I have ever known. Played golf with him up until a few months before he died. Always proud to have played for Wolves - but very modest. Very glad to have known him.
