Biography: Portsmouth born defender, signed as a 15 years old by Ted Bates and came through to establish himself until he was seriously injured in a car accident. He defied the medics and went on loan to Miami as part of his rehabilitation, unfortunately he was unable to regain full fitness and took on his parents newsagency in Gosport, only to be diagnosed with Leukemia in 1986 which took his life just two years later aged 34. He set up The Steve Mills Stem Cell Laboratory charity fund based at the University of Southampton.
