Biography: The Scotland born Australian international striker was a £200,000 signing from Dutch side Feyenoord to provide cover for Kerry Dixon and Gordon Dune. He had problems adjusting to the pace of English football despite being given a run in the team and never really settled. A string of injuries didn't help his cause nor did a spell on loan at Newcastle United and he was eventually sold to Swindon Town in 1991. After a spell with Millwall, Mitchell returned to Australia where he coached Sydney Olympic, Sydney United and Parramatta Power before being appointed assistant manager of Perth Glory. He stepped into the manager's hot seat in November 1997 and has been there ever since. In the past he has also scouted for Feyenoord, helped coach the Australian Olympic team and worked as a television pundit for Fox Sports.
