Biography: Experienced defender from Teeside with 4 Scottish Caps , Murty established himself at York City before becoming a legend at Reading making 306 league appearances for them. Released by Reading in 2009 He joined Southampton on a one year contract following a successful two week trial but injuries restricted him to just six league appearances, and he retired at the end of the season. He has most recently appeared in the BBCs Monday night soccer show ÐLate Kick OffÓ where he comments on the regions teams and imparts some of his experience in a slot entitled ÐThe KnowledgeÓ alongside Bournemouths Steve Fletcher. His son Steven was a trainee with Stockport County
