Newman, John I remember Johnny very well and watched him play his heart out for Birmingham in the 1956 FA Cup Final. I am now a columnist for a Blues fan blog and would love as much information about John as you give, including where he lives now, his state of health, anything of interest. Our fans would be delighted if we get any memories of the 1956 final he can give as we have very little to be cheer during the difficult times the club has experienced for the last ten years.

Newman, John Johnny Newman is the last survivor of the Birmingham City team that lost 3-1 to Manchester City in the 1956 FA Cup Final. The last player to whom we said farewell was Gordon Astall, outside right, who, I think, was from Plymouth.

Newman, John I was a pupil at Pennycross primary school, Plymouth in the 1960s. When returning to school for afternoon lessons, every day Johnny Newman would be coming down Ham Drive and always gave me a wave. He drove a black and white Vauxhall Victor car. It made my day to be noticed by the Argyle skipper. Does he remember?
