Position: Left-back

Biography: Having gained promotion to the second division in 1962, manager George Smith returned to his former club to snap up Left-back Noakes. Described as a tough, chirpy character he had made over 200 first team appearances for Palace and helped them gain promotion to the Third Division in 1961. His stay at Fratton Park was less successful and he was released on a free transfer in June 1964. Alf passed away in October 2005 at the age of 72.
