Biography: It was a surprise when Alan Ball paid Walsall £150,000 for the Frenchman, who was 32 at the time. He had only played one season in England, although he had been named as the midlanders' Player of the Year in that year. Alan Ball's judgement proved to be well founded and Jeff became a regular starter and popular with the fans. A disagreement with the manager led to his hasty departure less than two years later. Moved to Wigan Althletic before being released and returning home to France.
