Biography: Good honest midfield performer signed by Alex Ferguson in the summer of 1989. Outstanding displays for Norwich City had earned him much respect and a £750,000 price tag, and he followed his Carrow Road team mate, Steve Bruce, to Old Trafford. He won a FA Cup winner's medal in his first season then followed it up with success in the Cup Winners Cup and League Cup. He was given a free transfer at the age of 33 when the likes of David Beckham and Nicky Butt threatened his place on the bench, after the younger generation took his place in the starting line up. Went into coaching with Norwich and Stockport before returning to Old Trafford to run the Centre of Excellence. Was promoted to first team coach then assistant manager in September 2008.
