Born: 1905

Birthplace: Fleetwood, Lancashire

Position: Full-back

Biography: Took over the left full-back role from Welsh international Tom Jones, and was an ever present in the 1936 Second Division Championship winning side. He captained United for most of the War Years before moving on to Hyde United as player manager. Worked at Metro- Vickers during the Second World War, he collapsed and died at Ashton-under- Lyne in April 1946. His friend and Munich victim, Bert Whalley, was with him at the time. He was 40.
