Biography: A midfielder hailing from Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, he made his way through the ranks at Old Trafford making his debut against Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League in September 2002. But after failing to hold down a regular first team place, he was exchanged with Leeds United for Alan Smith. After spending a season on loan at Stoke, he made a permanent move in 2008.
