Birthplace: Dumbarton, Scotland

Position: Half-back

Biography: Earned his place in club history for not only being their first manager (as well as player) on a salary of £4 a week, but also for scoring their first league goal against Blackpool in September 1905. He assembled a good side but suddenly left the club for Glossop North End in January 1906 with the club third in the Second Division table. Stayed at Glossop until becoming reserve team manager of Manchester United. Coached on the continent either side of VVVV1 and became trainer of Coventry City before his death in Hampshire in January 1935.
