Biography: Played for Pompey either side of the Second World War during which time he served on HMS Arganaut with the Royal Navy. A solid right-back, he captained the side on the day that Pompey reached the top of the First Division for the first time in their history. He was a member of the championship-winning teams of 1948-49 and 1949-50 before leaving to play for Colchester United. Retired to Norfolk and died in 2003.
