Biography: Former apprentice who first made the leap to first team action as seventeen year old and played intermittently over the next three seasons. When called upon, he always gave good service and even spent most of one game in goal after Alan Knight had been stretchered off. Alan Ball who by now was Stoke City boss returned to the club to pick up his former player for £140,000 in December 1989. Later moved to Sheffield United for £500,000 and also played for Reading and Stockport. During his career, he had always had a keen interest in stocks and shares and now teaches others how to make money on the stock market.
