Was given his league debut at Left-back by Bobby Campbell as a 19 year-old against Luton Town despite being right footed. It wasn't until Paul Elliott's injury that he became established in central defence. He gave away a penalty in the 1994 FA Cup but then picked up a winner's medal three years later. He scored in the 1998 League Cup Final but found himself out in the cold when Gianluca Vialli started filling his side with foreign imports and was sold to Leicester for £2 million.
