Biography: Retired to become a policeman with the Merseyside Police. Jim is stationed on the Wirral not far away from Tranmere's Prenton Park.

Steel, Jim I watched Jim training on the pitch behind the club at Boundary park Oldham many times whilst playing truant as a 11 year old . He was the master of the overhead kick as far as I was concerned .I retrieved the wayward balls and there were many. Jim always bought me a drink from the corner shop at the bottom of Sheepfoot Lane on his way back to the club . Happy days remembered fondly
