Stokes, Alfie I was at Hackney Free and Parochial School 1969 to 1972 and Alfie taught us footy now and then. I believe he lived in Marian Court, Homerton, which was recently demolished. He told me that. Smashing bloke. Marian Court was on corner of Ponsford Street and Homerton High Street.

Stokes, Alfie Knew Alfie in the 1980s through betting shops - he loved a gamble. Used to go to the dogs with him and he loved laying bets privately at Wembley, Wimbledon and Walthamstow. He had a great sense of humour. I think he was doing a bit of mini cabbing at the time after a lengthy spell of driving a wealthy old lady around. He was a great character

Stokes, Alfie What a character, just after he left Watford we were training and the big gates opened and there stood Alfie alongside a new Ford Anglia he'd bought with his signing on fee with Nuneaton. He also followed me down to play for Ramsgate.
