Birthplace: Mickley, Northumberland

Position: Centre-half

Biography: Spent 26 years as a manager including his two clubs as a player, is best remembered for leading Sunderland to the famous FA Cup victory over Leeds in 1973, returned to the North East where he died in February 2004 aged 73 after living in Bury for many years.
