Biography: Scored on his home debut against Crystal Palace in April 1990 and then had to wait until the following November for his second game. Netted again against the Eagles at Stamford Bridge in his third first team appearance and became a regular in the first team. This helped him win England under-21 caps, but just as it seemed he had a bright future at the club under Glenn Hoddle, he decided to join Everton in 1993 on the eve of the new season for a tribunal settled fee of £850,000. Since retiring he has became a pundit with Sky Television and on radio, living on the North-West coast in Birkdale Village.
