Biography: Scored 5 of the 7 goals when Charlton beat Huddersfield 7-6 in 1957. They had been 5-1 down with half an hour to go, but Johnny (and his new boots - he had changed them at half time) got to work and notched up one of the greatest come-backs in the club's history. Sadly, Johnny was diagnosed with cancer of the lungs at the age of 34. Although he couldn't play, Charlton kept him on and paid his salary for a year or so until he died, in 1962.
