Biography: Signed for £4.4 million to compete with Mark Bosnich and Raimond van der Gouw for the number one goalkeeping spot at Old Trafford, he only played four games but they were eventful. A mistake on his debut allowed Liverpool's Sami Hyypia to score, is best remembered for a gaffe which allowed a Matt le Tissier shot under his body, while a 5-0 defeat to Chelsea was one of United's heaviest for 25 years. He was later allowed to return to Italy with Reggina. Lends a hand helping to coach at his home town team of Palermo.
