Position: Central Defender

Biography: A defender he played in the Football League between 1962-74. He started his career at Rotherham United where he made 213 league appearances between 1962-68. In 1974 he joined non league Wigan Athletic as player manager. He then moved to Portland Timbers first as a player then a coach. In 1978 he became coach of Zambia before spending one season with Miami Americans in 1980. He later became Managing Director at AFC Bournemouth. Whilst he was there he went to the 1990 World Cup Finals in Italy with his friend and manager Harry Redknapp. Travelling back in a mini bus after watching the Republic Of Ireland v Italy game the mini bus was hit by a car travelling on the wrong side of the road. He was killed and Harry Rednkapp was seriously injured but survived. He died on 30th June 1990 aged 47.
