John Townrow

Position: Centre-half

Biography: A capable Centre-half who was hit by more than his fair share of injuries during his stay at the club. Cool under pressure, he played 14 games in the 1929-30 promotion winning side, helping them establish themselves in the top flight the season afterwards. In total, he gave five years good service to the club. Was a coach and groundsman at Fairburn House and worked for Becton Gasworks, then for a brewer. Died in Knaresborough, Yorkshire in 1969 aged 68.
