Tudor, John John Tudor and Super Mac where the best one-two punch in soccer. Had the change to see them at St James Park in the 70’s, when I would go and see my grandma who lived in Wylam. Always exciting. Sorry to hear about John’s problems, he is in my prayers.

Tudor, John My grandad was the Secretary for Ilkeston Town and also a scout for Coventry. He took John to a Coventry trial, and the rest is history. My grandad died 5 years ago, unfortunately John is in USA and couldn’t make the funeral.

Tudor, John Anyone researching John Tudor, know this. He was as good a soul as ever lived, a footballer that represented NUFC as well as anyone ever has. I began my days at St.James Park as a 17 year old apprentice, before sporadically getting into the first team over 4 years. There were a number of the established first-teamers that were helpful & encouraging to me in those formative years but they were in the minority. The attitude, sadly, was "keep the young un's down". Players like Malcolm, Jinky, Tony Green, Tommy Craig, Barra were memorable exceptions, but none more so than John. His quiet, kindly advice was a positive tonic. Of course he was the perfect foil for Supermac in everybody's eyes but for me, "Tude" is very fondly remembered for the short chats & words of encouragement. He delivered in a way that meant so much to a naive & impressionable boy. A tremendous footballer and an even better person, John Tudor. X

Tudor, John I remember playing with John for Cotmanhay Utd in Ilkeston. One season he and I and Terry Haskins each scored 50 goals. He was a great footballer. His father and mine worked at Cossall colliery. If he receives this email, I hope he gets in touch with me.

Tudor, John His mum was a diiner lady at my schoolin Ilkeston. He used to come into the school from time to time and on one occasion he signed a copy of Nttm Evening Post the evening of the great Forest v Newcastle game in the 70's when to save the game, Geordies invaded the pitch!
