Biography: Born in Southampton full back Turner's father was a Southampton director. He started with Saints as an amateur in 1948 turning professional in 1950 as he established himself in the reserves. National Service then called nad he was posted to Devon where he made his solitary appearance for Torquay. After completing his National Service he returned to the Dell for a further two years playing regularly for the reserves then cruelly after breaking into the team and making 19 appearances he was forced to retire from an illness which was soon diagnosed as leukemia and he died very soon after aged just 25
