Biography: An amateur during his time at Old Trafford which enabled him to win three England amateur caps when he was at the club. His only two league games for United came in 1951, when he stood in for Johnny Downie in successive matches. When he retired from the game, he lived in Chorley and was a teacher at Horwich Grammar School until his death in July 1979.
