Biography: A reliable Centre-half who joined Southampton in 1938, joined the RAF during WWII, after which he returned to the Dell and he became captain in 1950. In 1951 with just short of 200 Saints appearances he joined Torquay as player manager, where he continued to play for another four years before concentrating on the management side until being sacked in 1965, He then managed Poole Town for another 5 years before moving back to Southampton where he managed the Manor House pub in Woolston for almost 14 years before finally retiring he died aged 76 in 1996
