I watched Norman play for Chester in the mid seventies. He absolutely destroyed Leeds and Newcastle in our famous cup run to the semi-finals of the League Cup. He was a pleasure to watch. Thanks for the memories Norman.

I went to watch Rochdale play Southport at Spotland in the early 1970s. We caught a bus to the ground and got into conversation with a fellow passenger. We said we were going to the game. "Are you ?" we enquired. "I am indeed..I'm playing. ." It was Norman Whitehead. That wouldn't happen these days!

Was a massive fan of Norman, who was the best right winger that Dale have ever had and he really should have played at a higher level Remember him completely destroying Dave Clements(Irish International Full Back for Coventry City)in the FA Cup game at Spotland.Put the ball onto the head of David Cross for the first goal and remember his best ever goal, which was away at Wrexham when he blasted a 35 yarder into the top corner past Gordon West(ex Everton keeper!)

I watched the Dale in the promotion season 1968/69 when Norman was a real star on the right wing I'm doing a series of articles about those days in the Rochdale programme for 2018/19 - the 50th anniversary of our first promotion. It would be great to talk to Norman about his time at the Dale if anyone can tell me how to get hold of him. Perhaps the bowling club might be a good place to start but any ideas welcome. I've already done a couple of interviews with players from that squad.
I played with Norman at Norris Green boys club early 60s he was a superb footballer destined to be a pro.
Norman is well and a very keen crown green bowler for Marine Park New Brighton.
I'm Norman's cousin, Gordon (Joan's son). My mun recently passed on (12th May 2012). We watched Norman play in Amateur Cup final replay 29th April 1967 at Maine Road. Later I watched Norman playing for Chester against Aston Villa in League Cup with Norman's sister Joan, I just heard recently Norman's father John passed away, interesting to see some information on the net about you Norm.
I used to watch Rochdale a lot when Norman played. Really good player. I went to watch an away cup tie against Crystal Palace then in 1st Division (as it was) and Norman ran them ragged and scored a great goal from 25 yards. The local fans were full of praise. The tie ended 2-2 but the 'Dale lost the home replay!
